I will be researching into sound on a scene from the thriller genre. i will be analysing a scene from scream and what do the different sounds project, sound is a key element in thriller genres, different sound techniques gives different effect from the thriller.
at the beginning of the film, a type of dialogue is being used, this dialogue is being used to create a dramatic effect and set an atmosphere to the thriller, the dialogue is said by the male character on the phone to the the female, this is used to make the male male character feel superior to the stereotypical blond victim. this dialogue is known as digetic sound. this sound creates a sense of hidden identity which reinforces the fear created by the film and also which the audience can relate to, this relates to the thriller genre of the scene, in addition to this i will be using this type of dialogue for my own thriller scene.
during this clip the non digetic doorbell is used this is to alert the female character and the audience that she is in great danger. moreover this digetic sound promotes fear and suspense as it foreshadows the heartbeat of the female victim, also this non digtic souns creates an emotion between the audience and the scene, this reinforces the thriller genre as non digetic sound foreshadows danger, i will be using this sound in my thriller to also create a similar sense of suspense and fear to relate to the audience.
the the female character proceeds towards the door their is an instant an intense sound, this sound is known as parallel sounds and is used to emphasis the suspense and fear in the thriller also this parallel sound suits the thriller genre due to the fear and frightening sound created,in my thriller i will also be using parallel sound as it will help the audience interact, feel the suspense of my scene.
You have shown a basic understanding of the different sound techniques used and explained briefly what they create.
